                      About Me

                      Picture

Melisa Carrico Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Integrative Psychotherapist, EMDR, Hypnosis and Theta Healing Practitioner, Certified Yoga and Aromatherapist.

I would like to take a few moments of your time to introduce myself and my work. After several years of mental health practice in the private, public and clinical therapeutic settings, I began Skyeia Holistic Services, a holistic wellness private practice here in Oakland in 2006. I am a native of Oakland and am truly excited at the opportunity to offer Integrative therapy as well as Holistic Wellness to Garrett County and the surrounding area.

I am licensed in Maryland as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). I also am a Adjunct Professor at Garrett College, a Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, Aromatherapy &, Hypnosis Practitioner and the creator of Balance~ology™ ~ The pathway to the extraordinary life. As a matter of fact, Balance~ology was featured at the Annual Counseling Association’s Annual Conference in    Hawaii in March of 2008.

In 2010 I began my training in EMDR and Theta Healing and very excited to add these additional services to my practice.

I have over 16 year of extensive mental health experience with a variety of clients, serving as a clinical services director, an educational consultant, and a public mental health clinician along with extensive work with women's issues, depression, anxiety & addictions.

I graduated from West Virginia University with a Master’s in Clinical Counseling in 1996 with a 4.0 Grade Point Average.

My specialty is Integrative Therapy which is treating physical and mental issues from the “Whole Person” perspective. Therapy is client-centered and based on a model of wellness rather than pathology. Individual assessments are used to determine which interventions will be most effective and appropriate. The pace of the work, and the approaches used, are geared to the authentic needs and rhythm of each client’s process. An eclectic mix of tools could include cognitive and solution focused therapy, relaxation, visualization, meditation, yoga and any other applicable therapies. This type of method can be extremely effective and successful with many conditions especially with stress related illnesses, anxiety, depression, all addictions, menopause and autoimmune deficiencies.

Please feel free to contact me anytime. Have a wonderful day!
                      Melisa M. Carrico, LCPC
